Tom Hammond-Davies is a Bach specialist and choral-orchestral conductor known for dramatic, high-impact performances and ambitious long-term projects.

He is Founder of the Oxford Bach Soloists, praised for its “immediate, enthralling unity and cohesiveness” (The Guardian), and whose debut recording Bach Cantatas (Signum, 2024) was hailed by BBC Music Magazine as “auspicious Bach auspiciously performed… scrupulously detailed… persuasively navigating the transition from despair to exultation.”

Founded in 2017 (the 500th anniversary year of the Reformation), OBS was established to perform J. S. Bach’s complete vocal works chronologically and in real time, inviting audiences into an ongoing artistic journey through the cantatas, Passions, and major liturgical works.

Former Director of Music at multiple Oxford institutions (including Wadham College, and the City Church of St Michael at the North Gate), Tom now serves as Director of Music at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas, where he leads a major music program spanning traditional Anglican repertoire and contemporary worship. He oversees the Chorister Program (Royal School of Church Music) and curates the Saint Michael Presents concert series.

Tom trained under Paul Spicer at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and in 2025 was awarded a Fellowship of the Conservatoire (HonFRBC). His work has been heard at the BBC Proms (Royal Albert Hall), the Three Choirs Festival, and the Oxford International Song Festival. In 2024 he made his New York conducting debut at the Park Avenue Armory in Shall We Gather at the River, collaborating with Peter Sellars, Reginald Mobley, and the Choir of Trinity Wall Street.
